Association Closely Monitoring Upgrading of Special Teachers III In the year 2000, agreement was reached between TTUTA and the Chief Personnel Officer that teachers who hold recognised degrees from accredited universities should be upgraded to Teacher III (Secondary). This would apply, provided that the teacher's degree, was in the subject area which he/she was required to teach. This matter was later taken up with the Prime Minister at a meeting held in 2001. At that meeting promises were made that funds for the upgrading process would be provided in the 2002/2003 Budget. The Ministry of Education was given the task of studying the matter with a view to implementation. The slow movement of the Ministry caused a delay in the implementation process, in spite of numerous reminders given by the Association. The Association assures all Special Teacher III that the matter has not died. TTUTA will do all within its power to ensure that SPT III’s are upgraded to TIII’s and suitably paid. |
