Meeting at Mt. Hope Junior Secondary called by Frank B. Seepersad. Steering Committee for the Unification of Teachers (COMFUT) appointed.
June
Nationwide signature campaign calling for Amendment of Education Act No. 1 of 1966. One Union for all teachers.

TTUTA's Constitution adopted
1980
April 24
TTUTA recognised as a Trade Union.
June 14
1st National Elections. Six (6) Officers elected on one-man/one-vote system.
Nov 4 - Dec.
Massive nationwide demonstrations. Picketing of Parliament. Announcement by Government that Education Act (1966) would be amended. Mass demonstrations in rejection of certain provisions of draft of second amendment. Act 1 of 1981 finally passed. Office opened at Speedway Building, San Juan.

Dec. 21
Certificate of Recognition granted by Registration, Recognition and Certification Board.
1982
Introduction of the Group Health Plan. Discounts at various firms.
1983
Membership to Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT)/WCOTP
July 1
Introduction of Death Benefit.
1985
1985 Purchase of Building for Head Office, Curepe. TTUTA Hosted CUT Conference.
1986
Securing of Scholarships at Cipriani College of Labour and Cooperative Studies.
1987
Purchase of Building for South Office. 1,100 temporary teachers confirmed.
1988
Success in getting government to retain an uninterrupted Teacher Training Programme. TTUTA's President elected President of the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT).
1989
Scholarships at CCLCS extended to include Cooperative Studies.
1990
Establishment of a Code of Ethics
1991
Won CUT first Poetry Competition. Introduction of Study Circle Membership Training Programme. TTUTA acquired land for Teachers' Centre, Tobago.
1992
Frank B. Seepersad Award given for the first time. Proposed Collective Agreement adopted by the Association. TTUTA hosted CUT Student Athletics Championships.
1993
Graduation of the first group of students of TTUTA/TASETT University of Sheffield Certificate /Diploma in Special Education. 1st. recognition of World Teachers' Day 1st Strike Ballot taken.
1994
TTUTA settles long outstanding arrears.
1995
TTUTA acquires land for Teachers' Centre, Trinidad.
1996
Series of marches by TTUTA members for improved Salaries & COLA - Port of Spain, San Fernando, Tobago.
1997
Negotiation of First Collective Agreement completed.
1998
Death of Second Vice-President, Mr. McKensley Nathasingh who had served the Association in several capacities for thirteen (13) years. Master of Education in Education Studies introduced by TTUTA/University of Sheffield
1999
First female Tobago Officer elected.
April 19
TTUTA declares day of non-violence against teachers.
2000
October
TTUTA concludes negotiations with the Chief Personnel Officer, with teachers gaining substantial increases, based on a Job Evaluation exercise.
2001
TTUTA embarks on massive fund-raising campaigns for the construction of its Teachers' Centres, one in Tobago and the other in Trinidad.

TTUTA concludes salary negotiations with its office staff, with the latter getting an overall 16% increase.

TTUTA fields a cricket team which participates for the first time in the CUT Les Harris Cricket competition in St. Lucia and places second.

Mr. Clyde Permell, Past President of TTUTA and the CUT was honoured by the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) for his outstanding work in promoting Caribbean Trade Unionism. Mr. Permell was President of the CUT from 1995 to 1999.

TTUTA/Mount Saint Vincent Master of Education Programme introduced.

2003

Mr. Anthony Garcia, Past President of TTUTA and the CUT was honoured by the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT)

TTUTA's Professional Magazine launched - The Professional Teacher

Deed of lease finalised for land for Teacher's Centre in Trinidad
