|
TTUTA's Code of Ethics TTUTA's Code of Ethics is a guide to the personal and professional conduct of teachers. A first draft of the Code of Ethics was framed by the Professional Advancement Committee (PAC) and published in the TUTOR News of April 1982. In 1985, the Central Executive formally commissioned the PAC to finalise the work of the Code of Ethics. In 1986, the PAC formulated a new Draft Code of Ethics and held a national consultation on the draft, where ideas from TTUTA's draft Code of Ethics and from codes from other professional and teacher organisations were examined. TTUTA's General Council formally adopted the Draft Code of Ethics at a meeting held at the Mt. Hope Junior Secondary School on May 14th, 1988. The Code of Ethics speaks to the teacher's commitment to students, to colleagues, to the administration, to the profession and to the Association. Published as an Appendix to the Code of Ethics, is the United Nations' Recommendations Concerning the Status of Teachers, adopted by the Special Intergovernmental Conference on the Status of Teachers held in Paris on October 5, 1966. In adopting the Code of Ethics TTUTA's General Council of May 14, 1988 formally declared that the Code of Ethics (including the Recommendations Concerning the Status of Teachers) is the official Code of Ethics of TTUTA. The Association therefore appeals to all teachers to adhere the principles espoused within. |
